Clergy & Volunteer Safeguarding Resources

All clergy, employees and volunteers working with vulnerable groups, including children, must adhere to the Catholic Church's national safeguarding policies before they can be appointed. The following downloadable documents provide important information on safeguarding for members of clergy and parish safeguarding volunteers.

E Learning and Online Training

The Diocese provides safeguarding training on a deanery and parish basis. Our face-to-face training programme is temporarily suspended because of social distancing due to COVID-19. If you need to access free online safeguarding training please email the safeguarding office including your your name, parish and parish role and a member of our team will  enrol you  as soon as possible. Understanding the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

The DBS has recently created a ‘Guide to DBS Checks’ video which explores a number of different subjects including: the different types of DBS check, how to apply, the type of information that can be included on DBS certificate, what countries DBS covers and the DBS Barred Lists.
