Many congratulations to St Dunstan's, Woking, and St Hugh's, Knaphill, on being awarded a CAFOD LiveSimply Award last week.

The LiveSimply programme - which is inspired by Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si' and Catholic Social Teaching - is open to Catholic parishes and schools and is centred on three key principles, with award recipients illustrating that they are living simply and sustainably with creation, and in solidarity with people living in poverty.

The 10th anniversary of Laudato Si' and the achievement of the LiveSimply award were celebrated with a beautiful and uplifting Mass at St Dunstan's, attended by Jenny Finlayson from CAFOD in Arundel & Brighton, (pictured above with Canon Rob Esdaile).

Reflecting after the Mass, Jenny said:

"It has been a real honour to see the start and completion of [St Dunstan's and St Hugh's] two-year journey. Your work is highly commendable and your LiveSimply website is outstanding... Please continue the great work you have started and share your experience with others."

Laudato Si' encourages communities to care for the planet and for others by reducing waste, appreciating resources, and taking action for the world and its people. These themes were underlined by Pope Leo this week, in an address to the Laudato Si' movement. Concluding with a question, the Pope said:

“God will ask us if we have cultivated and cared for the world that He created, and if we have taken care of our brothers and sisters. What will be our answer?”
