Watch a new short film about the source and summit of our faith

October 8, 2026

Adoremus, the 2026 National Eucharistic Congress, will take place in London on Saturday 10 October with many hundreds of people - including fifty lay people and members of clergy from our diocese - journeying to St George’s Cathedral in Southwark to renew their devotion to the Eucharistic Lord.

Catholics believe that the Eucharist is truly the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. Through the prayers offered at Mass and the action of the Holy Spirit, the substance of the bread and wine is changed into Christ’s Body and Blood. The Eucharist is the sacramental re-presentation of Christ’s one sacrifice on the Cross and as a sacred meal through which Catholics receive Christ, grow in union with Him, and are united with the Church.

In the short film above, Canon Tom Treherne from Our Lady Star of the Sea, East Preston, joins Sr Clare, Sr Aelred and Sr Clare Agnes from the Poor Clares in Arundel to explore the sacramental re-presentation of Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross, as the source and summit of our rich life of faith.

Many thanks to Canon Tom, Canon David Parmiter (Brighton & Hove), Sr Clare, Sr Aelred and Sr Clare Agnes for contributing to this recording.
