The Schools Singing Programme was delighted to form a choir for Bishop Stephen’s Mass of Welcome at Worth Abbey on Saturday 24 October.

Children from St John’s and St Robert Southwell represented our Sussex schools, and St Hugh of Lincoln, St Cuthbert’s and St Andrew’s represented Surrey.

The Schools Singing Programme choir sang Elgar’s "Ave Verum Corpus" during Communion and joined in with the congregation of more than 800 and the diocesan choir to sing the rest of the Mass.

After Mass, Bishop Stephen came to thank them for their contribution and told them how much he is looking forward to starting his visits to schools very soon.

Thanks are due to Choral Directors Claire Gale and Billie Robson, who prepared the children for the Mass, and for the accompanying staff.
