Schools thriving under Academy Trusts

February 8, 2024

Three primary-age girls in school uniforms are waving their hands excitedly, or have them crossed over their heart, in front of a school container-garden scene, in bright sunlight.

With more schools in the Diocese transitioning to academy status in line with Bishop Richard’s vision, it is good to see our schools thriving under the two academy trusts in the Diocese.

The Department for Education has just produced finalised performance tables for Multi Academy Trusts (MATs) for the last academic year.

Xavier Catholic Education Trust (CET) came second in the country for GCSE (with excellent progress scores compared to pupils across England who got similar results at the end of Key Stage 2), and third in the country for A Level.

In terms of primary data, on most measures, Xavier CET was in the top 2% of 1000+ trusts nationally.

As the tables only look at trusts with the required number of schools in the last three years, Bosco CET, our trust in Sussex, did not have enough schools in the trust at this time to be included in this measure.
