Parishioners from St Edmund’s, Godalming, enjoyed a fantastic “Ride & Stride” fundraising walk last weekend, setting off on a 3.5-hour walk from St John's in Farncombe.

Ride + Stride is the single largest source of income for many Historic Churches Trusts, enabling them to make much-needed grants to places of Christian worship. St Edmund’s walkers journeyed past a former Baptist church in St John's Street, Plymouth Brethren Iron Chapel in Lower Manor Road, St Peter & Paul Church, the Quaker Meeting House in Mill Lane and The Franciscan Centre, Ladywell. They then travelled downhill towards Town End Street, passing Kingdom Hall, a congregation centre for the Jehovah's Witnesses.

Speaking after the walk, a representative from St Edmund’s said:

“[This year’s group was] by far the largest we've had for many years. It shows the decision to change from ride to stride was sensible. [We had] such a friendly and chatty group… Everyone said they enjoyed it but were looking forward to a nice cup of tea! So far, we have raised over £500.”
