The second cohort of the Postgraduate Certificate in RE, a collaboration between the Diocese of Arundel & Brighton and St Mary’s University, Twickenham, began with the in-person day held at the St Philip Howard Centre last week.
This year, we have attracted colleagues from as far afield as North Wales and Sunderland as well as from closer to home, including Portsmouth and Southwark dioceses. We are delighted to continue to offer a pathway to train teachers of RE and to support the delivery of the RED.
The course is designed for non-specialists teaching Religious Education in Key Stage 3. Run in partnership with St Mary's University, London, the Certificate course is a transformative journey for educators trained in other subjects who are now teaching or planning to teach RE. Students build subject knowledge around the six branches of the RE Directory, grow in understanding of the history and role of RE in Catholic secondary schools in England and gain a qualification that supports career development and progression.
The course consists of 1 full day in Crawley in September and 6 twilight online sessions – 1 per half term.
The cost is £1,300 for the full accredited course.
Although the course has begun for the 2026-7 academic year, late entry may still be possible - contact E: schools@abdiocese.org.uk to discuss this.
