Every year, more than 300,000 children are separated from their parents through imprisonment. You can help to restore a little joy and hope for them this Christmas by donating to Operation Elf, an appeal organised by the national Catholic prison charity, Pact.
Operation Elf provides gift cards for parents in prison to give to their children at Christmas. This allows mums and dads who are prisoners to feel like parents. Children can choose a gift and have a lovely chat with their mum or dad about it. The appeal supports Pact’s work to keep families together.
Pact needs more than 300 gift cards for the families we support in five prisons in the diocese of Arundel & Brighton. Andy Keen-Downs, Pact CEO said:
“Christmas can be a difficult time for families affected by the imprisonment of a loved-one. By donating to Operation Elf you can make it feel more like Christmas for the thousands of children who can’t spend the festive period with their mum or dad. We've set ourselves a challenging target of more than 300 gift cards in the diocese of Arundel & Brighton, but with your support we’re confident we can reach it.”
The following prisons are within our Diocese, you can help to support them through Operation Elf:
HMP Downview
HMP Send
HMP Lewes
HMP High Down
HMP Ford
