“You are the light of the world ... let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14,16
Today we pray for all the lay faithful of our Diocese: families, young adults, older people, parish volunteers, those who serve publicly, and those whose faithful witness is known only to God.
Most of the mission of the Church takes place beyond the walls of our churches: in homes, workplaces, schools, hospitals, streets and communities.
Every baptised person has a vocation to holiness and a part to play in the mission of Christ. The faithful witness of parents, grandparents, young people, parish volunteers, carers, professionals and neighbours can proclaim the Gospel in ways that words alone cannot.
Today we pray that every member of our Diocese may know that they have a place in the Church's mission. May no one feel that their contribution is too small. May our families become schools of prayer and love and may our lay faithful carry Christ into every part of society.
St Philip Howard, pray for all the lay faithful of our Diocese.
Our Father…
Hail Mary…
Glory Be…
Lord Jesus, Good Shepherd of your people,
as Bishop-Elect Stephen prepares to receive the fullness of the sacrament of Holy Orders,
give him a shepherd's heart.
May he love every parish entrusted to his care, know the joys and struggles of your people,
and lead us always closer to you.
Through the intercession of St Philip Howard,
prepare him for his ministry among us.
Amen
Our Lady, Assumed into Heaven, pray for us.
St Joseph, pray for us.
St Philip Howard, pray for us.
