“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” Colossians 3:23
Today we pray for Bishop-elect Stephen, for all those who work for the Diocese in our parish and diocesan offices, schools and other places of service, and for those whose work enables the Church's mission.
Much of the work that enables the Church to flourish happens behind the scenes.
Buildings must be maintained, finances administered, people supported, safeguarding upheld, communications prepared, records kept and countless practical details attended to. In parishes and central offices, people give their time and talents so that the Church can carry out her mission.
Today we give thanks for all who serve in these ways. We pray that their work may be valued and that they may know that their contribution is part of the mission of Christ.
May St Philip Howard intercede especially for those whose work is unseen, and may he help us to recognise the dignity of every act of faithful service.
St Philip Howard, pray for all who serve the Diocese in its offices, parishes and practical ministries.
Our Father…
Hail Mary…
Glory Be…
Lord Jesus, Good Shepherd of your people,
as Bishop-Elect Stephen prepares to receive the fullness of the sacrament of Holy Orders,
give him a shepherd's heart.
May he love every parish entrusted to his care, know the joys and struggles of your people,
and lead us always closer to you.
Through the intercession of St Philip Howard,
prepare him for his ministry among us.
Amen
Our Lady, Assumed into Heaven, pray for us.
St Joseph, pray for us.
St Philip Howard, pray for us.
