Novena Day Four

“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 12:4

People across our family of faith have been journeying in prayer over the last three days. Today we pray for Bishop-elect Stephen and for the Religious who live and serve within our Diocese, for their communities, vocations, apostolates and witness.

‍

Reflection

The consecrated life is a precious gift to the Church. Through prayer, community and service, Religious women and men bear witness to the Kingdom of God and remind the whole Church that Christ is worth giving everything for.

Today we give thanks for the Religious communities in our Diocese and for all they contribute through schools, parishes, works of charity, prayer, hospitality and hidden service. We pray especially for vocations. May young women and men hear the Lord's call and have the courage to respond generously.

St Philip Howard knew the cost of fidelity to Christ. May his example encourage all who have consecrated their lives to God to remain steadfast in their vocation.

‍
‍Together we pray:

Our Father…

Hail Mary…

Glory Be…

Prayer for Bishop-elect Stephen

Lord Jesus, Good Shepherd of your people,

as Bishop-Elect Stephen prepares to receive the fullness of the sacrament of Holy Orders,

give him a shepherd's heart.

May he love every parish entrusted to his care, know the joys and struggles of your people,

and lead us always closer to you.

Through the intercession of St Philip Howard,

prepare him for his ministry among us.

Amen
