The diocesan Ministry of Consolation team came together on Wednesday 14 May to celebrate the graduation of its newest trained members.
They join a network of 140 trained bereavement and loss Befrienders, who journey with those experiencing the loneliness and pain of loss, in all its complexity. Each former deanery in our Diocese has a team of Catholic Bereavement Befrienders able to listen to, and support, people experiencing the loss of a loved one, with a number of groups across Sussex and Surrey able to welcome and support people during this painful journey.
The celebration at St Bernadette's, Crawley concluded with Mass, with new Befrienders officially commissioned into the Ministry of Consolation community.
If you would like to find out more about the support and accompaniment available, or you are interested in exploring the work of the Ministry, please email our Marriage and Family Life Adviser, Deacon Simon South. Information on Funerals & Bereavement can be found on our website.
