Invited Season III launches in less than three weeks!

November 7, 2023

Our Invited Mission began three years ago, bringing people from across the Diocese, and far beyond, together in faith, online. Season I allowed us to explore the basic message of the Gospel; that we are created by a God of love.

Season II of Invited, ‘Growing in Faith’ was all about our day-to-day experiences, the good and the bad, the highs and the lows, exploring what it really means to be a follower, or disciple of Jesus.

Season III launches in less than 3 weeks with the first of four films going live on Monday 27 November on our website and across our social channels.

Each Invited Season III film will be accompanied by a range of downloadable resources on the theme of the Incarnation. The programme is designed to be accessed by individuals and groups - with everyone, regardless of age, depth of faith, or involvement in the parish very welcome. Invited Season III - Episode I

Week I's Film will explore the Incarnation, with contributions from diocesan seminarian Barnabus Mercer and Julia Wingfield, Director of Family and Children's Ministry at East Brighton Parish, catechist, and secondary school RE Teacher.

Barnabas grew up in Rottingdean as a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes. After studying Theology at Durham University, he worked at Cranbrook School, before entering the formation for the priesthood for the Diocese. He is currently at the Venerable English College in Rome, undertaking his second year of Philosophy. When Barnabas visits Sussex during his vacation he enjoys going for walks along the South Downs and going to the seaside with his dog, Ifor.

Julia is a secondary school teacher, and currently working part-time as the Head of RE in a local state secondary school in East Brighton, she grew up on the island of Malta and moved to Brighton in 1997.  In 2002 her daughter made her First Holy Communion and Julia started volunteering with the First Holy Communion catechists' team - she has worked in sacramental preparation ever since. One of the highlights of Julia's spiritual journey has been walking the Camino de Santiago de Compostela (the Camino Frances) in 2019.
