
Pupils from the six Catholic Primary schools in Brighton and Hove gathered at Cardinal Newman Catholic School, Hove, this week, for the "Hands of Hope Design Award" – a legacy project which honours St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School which closed last year. The theme was "Stewards of Creation" and how we all have our part to play in caring for our environment.
Gill Foan, former Head, and Juliette Skinner, former Assistant Head, were both present to witness the children from each school who had got through to the final stages of the competition with their designs for animals linked to the care of creation finalise their designs, use the laser cutter to produce them and do a presentation to everyone gathered.
Julie Oldroyd, Director of Education, who attended the event said,
“This project animated and engaged the pupils and thanks to Joe Wells, DT Subject Leader, who made the event happen and Claire Jarman, Principal, for hosting, it was a great success. Gill was delighted to present the inaugural award to the pupils from St Mary Magdalen’s Catholic Primary School.”
