Over 800 pupils from schools across the Diocese gathered for the annual Good Shepherd Celebration at Worth Abbey on Thursday 18 June. The joyful annual gathering offers primary and secondary pupils across Sussex and Surrey with an enriching opportunity to explore and celebrate the Catholic faith as a diocesan community, with children of all ages sharing their gifts and talents.

Diocesan Director of Education, Julie Oldroyd, explains that "We focused on the Gospel of the Calming of the Storm and were reminded that the anchor, a powerful symbol for Christians, remains an expression of our hope in Christ.

"Each school presented their own decorated 'Legacy of Hope' anchor to Monsignor Tony Barry, who celebrated the service."

Diocesan schools fundraise throughout the year in support of Mission Together, the children’s branch of Missio, the Catholic Church’s official charity for overseas mission. This year’s combined fundraising efforts saw a cheque for £3,309 presented to the charity, representing generous charitable giving from across our family of schools.

The funds raised will enable Mission Together to support children living in poverty and turmoil around the world, regardless of their background or belief, through food programmes, educational provision, medical assistance, and residential, pastoral and spiritual care.
