The Faith in Action and Oscar Romero Award Ceremony took place at Worth Abbey last week, with Bishop Richard presiding. Schools from around the diocese gathered, with pupils being awarded their Faith in Action pins, and Oscar Romero Award Bronze, Silver and Gold awards.
Those gathered were joined by Mugeni Sumba, Coordinator for the Oscar Romero Award.
Supported by CYMFed, the Catholic Youth Ministry Federation of England and Wales, the Faith in Action Award aims to help young people to connect their life and faith in a tangible way, through service to others, and is awarded to individual students.
The Romero Award is presented to whole schools, and is gained by demonstrating a school's commitment to Catholic Social Teaching in the curriculum, decision-making and dedication to living in solidarity with the poor.
The Oscar Romero Participator level award was also presented to St Paul’s, Thames Ditton; St Thomas of Canterbury, Guildford; St Oscar Romero, Worthing, and Salesian, Chertsey. The Developer level was awarded to St Joseph’s Specialist Trust, Cranleigh & — the first school in the Diocese to achieve this level.
Congratulations to all the award winners!
