The school community of Rydes Hill Prep School gathered for their Leavers Mass, celebrated by Fr Roy Waters. It was a particularly poignant celebration as the school will no longer be designated a Catholic school from September.
Speaking at the Mass, Julie Oldroyd, Director of Education, thanked the founding religious community, the Daughters of Mary and Joseph, staff and governors past and present for their witness to the faith over the past eighty years.
She presented diocesan Education Service medals to Karen Boyle, long-serving member of staff and to Sarah Norville, Headteacher, and wished all who are leaving Rydes Hill, staff and pupils, every best wish for the future.
Fr Roy reminded the Leavers that the Church is always here for them and that their experiences at Rydes Hill would be carried with them into the next stage of their journey.
