The community of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Dorking, past and present, family and friends, staff, parents and governors gathered for a Mass to celebrate the dedicated service of Headteacher Carolyn Scrutton. Carolyn has given 31 years of service to Catholic education, 27 of these at St Joseph’s and 20 as Head.
Mass was celebrated by Fr Ian Vane, and Fr Simon Hall concelebrated. In his homily, Fr Simon likened the life of St Joseph to those who commit themselves to primary education, being part of the earliest years of formation.
Carolyn was thanked by those present for her humble and faith-filled servant leadership and Julie Oldroyd, Director of Education, presented Carolyn with a certificate and Education Service medal. A beautiful celebration cake and refreshments were enjoyed by all after Mass.
