Ahead of his installation in Westminster Cathedral, Julie Oldroyd, diocesan Director of Education, presented Bishop Richard with a book celebrating his service to education in the Diocese of Arundel & Brighton.
Schools sent in messages and photos, commemorating the many wonderful visits and celebrations involving our schools. Heads and pupils also sent messages of congratulations and assurance of prayers for the Archbishop-Elect of Westminster:
“Thank you for your humble accompaniment, we have very much appreciated you being a shepherd who leads the flock whilst moving amongst them. Your presence in our schools, our churches and at events, not least the annual pilgrimage to Lourdes, has a been a real blessing.”
“You will be greatly missed by all, but you leave the diocese with a wonderful legacy and a clear path to continue to journey along - as schools, trusts, parishes and people.”
“When the announcement of your new role came, the students burst into a spontaneous applause and cheers. They did this because they feel a connection with you.”
Archbishop-Elect Richard will be installed as the new Archbishop of Westminster in Westminster Cathedral on 14 February.
