The Diocesan Education Service is delighted to announce that Ani Magill CBE has been admitted as Dame to The Papal Order of St Gregory. The Order of St Gregory is bestowed in recognition of conspicuous lay service to the Church on the recommendation of a diocesan bishop with the support of the papal nuncio. Ani was Headteacher at St John the Baptist, Woking and CEO of Xavier Catholic Education Trust, and now sits on the Board of Directors.

Bishop Richard and Julie Oldroyd joined the Board of Directors, to make the presentation. Peter O’Brien, Chair of the Board of Directors, writing last summer said “Ani’s work ethic, spirit of generosity, deep faith and tireless dedication to excellence have been a blessing to so many and her influence has been felt not just in our Catholic schools but throughout Surrey and beyond.  We of course, are particularly grateful to Ani for the great work she has done in founding and building the Xavier Catholic Education Trust. We started as a small group of schools who were looking to work together for the good of Catholic education in our area and under Ani’s leadership, we have grown and developed to become a high performing organisation offering exceptional educational and spiritual development opportunities for some 10,000 children. Ani’s legacy will, through these children, continue to make a good and profound difference in our world for generations to come. We are exceedingly grateful for her remarkable and selfless service.”

The Education Service are delighted that Ani’s inspirational contribution to Catholic education in the diocese has been recognised in this way. Many congratulations!
