Contract: Part-time, 0.8 FTE, four days per week

Location: home-based with regular national travel.

Salary: circa £60,000 FTE, with a pension scheme contribution of 8% in line with auto-enrolment requirements (combined employer and employee)

The Catholic Union seeks a new Director to lead, influence, and expand the Union’s impact across the Church, public life, and wider society.

They are seeking an exceptional leader who can act as a credible spokesperson and ambassador for the Catholic Union, building trusted relationships across the Church, parliaments and wider society and helping to grow the Catholic Union’s influence and engagement in the years ahead.

The Director provides leadership and represents the Catholic Union publicly. Key responsibilities include:

• Acting as principal spokesperson and ambassador to the Church, parliament, media, and other stakeholders.

• Strengthening relationships with bishops, diocesan officials, MPs, MSPs, MSs, peers, and Catholic organisations.

• Working with Trustees, Council members and the President to develop a clear articulation  of the Catholic Union’s mission and strategy.

• Leading and managing a small but agile staff team.

• Growing the Weekly Briefing readership and other channels of influence and engagement.

• Supporting income generation through donor stewardship, sponsorship, and fundraising initiatives.

• Promoting inclusion, bridge-building, and lay engagement across England, Wales, and Scotland.

The Director will be expected to travel nationally, with regular presence in London for events and parliamentary engagement. The Director will lead a small, experienced team, comprising a full-time Head of External Affairs, a part-time administrator, and a part-time generalist supporting communications and events. They  will report to the Chair of the Catholic Union Charitable Trust and work closely with the President, the Trustees, and the Council of the Catholic Union of Great Britain.
